Why Success Will Never Be the Key to Your Happiness

When you cannot untangle success from happiness, even though they do not guarantee one another.

Willpower. Drive. Grit. Determination. Just get it done. Make it happen. Struggle through it.

These things will most likely make you successful, but they won’t make you happy.

Strong mental health, a trustworthy community of people to rely on and honest self-reflection is what is needed to make both success and happiness happen.

We cannot go it alone in life; believe me, I have tried one too many times.

The more I lean on others, the better my life has become.

The more comfortable I am with asking for help, the less I struggle or at least shorten the length of time dedicated to my struggle.

We are here to support one another, not to bring each other down, compare our lives to others or to ‘win’ the game of life.

I want us all to win, if it really is a game. I want us all to be happy each and every day. Let’s start focusing on making being happy first and success secondary.

I am not embarrassed of my journey because it has brought me to exactly where I need to be today.

My journey has brought in the people who will be my lifelong people. My struggles through my journey have also shown me who is not encouraging me along, but rather pushing me back or keeping me stagnant.

I am disciplined and hard working, but those alone will not guarantee happiness, they only guarantee external success.

Happiness, contentment and internal peace is not a product you can purchase, a job you can be hired for or a person you can marry.

Let’s focus on working hard, asking for help, setting clear boundaries and finding the happiness in each day.

Success alone will not create the life you want, it will simply push you along the life society expects you to be happy living.

I write about issues that are near and dear to my heart, with the hope that my stories, experiences, and struggles may empower others: amanlitt.ca
