When I was twenty-eight I got divorced, lost my job, was in debt and had to move back in with my parents. I was lost. I thought my life was over; I felt so old and like I had lost in the game of life. I could not see how I could get out of this situation to simply survive, let alone succeed.

I remember bumping into an acquaintance while out for coffee at this time. They knew my situation and could tell from looking at me that I was struggling. They did not do anything I think they would consider massively significant, but for me, it changed my life. They told me to simply choose a direction and put one foot in front of the other. It resonated with me very deeply.

I went home and started building my new life.

I moved to a new city, got a job, bought a car, got of out of debt, met my partner, started going back to school and gaining success in a multitude of areas of my life. Basically, I started over at 28 and created something way better than I had lost.

By putting one foot in front of the other and keeping my focus on the future, I built a today that supasses anything I could have created or had in the life that I seemingly lost.

I am almost forty now. I used to think that forty was…

I write about issues that are near and dear to my heart, with the hope that my stories, experiences, and struggles may empower others.
