The World is Laughing at Your Writing

A hater, a person, from an expired part of my life, sent me a message: “Enjoy your little blog, because the world is laughing at your writing.”
I think it was meant to make me feel small, embarrassed, stupid or just plain silly for my writing.
The world is laughing at my writing?
I am providing laughter to the whole wide world? Wow, I am a much bigger deal than I thought I was, thank you kind sir. I thought my mom was the only person who read my blog diligently, but you have shown me that I have underestimated my influence on the interweb.
There is always two ways to spin hate, so always try to spin it in your favour.
This person, who is not in my life anymore, is hiding in some dark hole, expending their valuable time and energy to read my writing.
Why?
To hate on me and laugh at me? Well….that seems like a really odd choice, as to how to spend the limited time in life you have.
This is the only real hate I have received online, from someone who I already know does not like me.
Why would this deter me?
It actually made me feel sorry for them and motivated me more.
Writing online, for almost a year has been so inspiring for me! I have had so many people, a shocking number, reach out to me, to simply say hello, tell me they liked an article or something more personal. One hater does not erase all the great experiences I have had.
Every positive piece of praise I have received from an old acquaintance, stranger or new friend is really valuable. It takes way more guts to send love and positivity to others online, than it is to spew hate. It is so much easier to mock, ridicule and look for grammatical mistakes, while you are hidden away, not doing much of anything positive for the world, than it is to reach out and say, ‘good job.’
My goal, when I started writing online, was that if even one person found value, comfort or support in what I was writing, I could continue doing so.
In such a bleak world, we should all be sharing our struggles more openly and honestly because it is during the toughest points in life that you learn the most. If I can share what has helped, or is helping me, and it can help one other person, it is of the utmost value and this is why I continue to write.
I am just living my life, as best I can and the love I have received is so much more powerful than the hate, so let the haters do their thing.
Remember that in life, when you do something that scares others, those will be people who will try to knock you down and peg, or two, or twelve, but do not give them the benefit of hesitating. They are trying to make you succumb to their level, a lower level of life, where they are not constantly challenging themselves or trying to improve themselves.
Block them; block them from as many portals as possible of your life and keep doing you. Maybe you are not writing online, maybe your thing is trying to get into super great shape, finding a new job, becoming an entrepreneur, getting back into the dating scene, or learning to salsa, whatever it is, there will always be a creepy crawler hating in the darkness.
Let them hate and honestly, pity them, because while you are trying to better yourself, they are still stuck on something from a past world, which no longer exists.
No matter who you are and what you are trying to improve, the very act of improvement and bettering yourself will bring out the ugliest side in some people. The world is laughing at me? Let them laugh, it is the greatest medicine of life.
