Suffering is Self-Induced
Choosing Satisfaction Instead
All suffering is self-induced
No one can make another suffer — not truly, and not in the long run.
Yes, there are exceptions, but in the self-growth lane of life, my reality is this: pain isn’t part of the event itself — it’s part of our reaction to it.
When I reflect on the past four decades of my life, every “good” and “bad” moment has been determined not by what happened, but by how I responded.
Example One: My daughter’s eight days in the hospital
I did not suffer for one second during that time. Why? I trusted the healthcare specialists. I was in full accountability for my family’s safety and security. I never questioned my ability to lead and make the right calls in a stressful situation. My focus was entirely on keeping things as calm, safe, and comfortable as possible for my daughter.
I was in full-mom mode — and it felt good to be there for her completely, distraction-free, even in hard circumstances.
Plenty of weird, bad, and even traumatic things happened during those eight days, but I remained calm, collected, and composed.
