Let me finish my point before you judge me.
Love ain’t shit.
For our whole lives, the goal has been love and we have been sold a bunch of bullshit.
Love? For real?
We are expected to find some person, an apparent ‘soulmate’ who will love us tirelessly until one of us drops dead? I find that a bit challenging to fathom and believe me, I have definitely drunk the kool-aid and tried.
Respect is much easier to define, measure and ask for.
The problem with marriage is that we keep selling and advertising a product to single people as though they are missing out or less than because they are not married and the implication is that it’s a goal that all should want to attain.
Why?
Many marriages, from my vantage point, seem tiring, unfulfilling and filled to the brim with passive-aggressive comments masked as jokes.
Thanks but no thanks I say.
