How to Stop Using Your Age as an Anchor

You do not need to be anything by any specific age.
There is not an age where you should be married, with children or employed with your dream job.
There is no age by which you should grow out of certain habits, traits or interests.
There is no signs towards maturity, which are equivalent for every person on the planet.
There is no life journey which is right or wrong, there are just some journeys which appear more normal because many people follow said journey.
It’s never too late for a new beginning in your life. — Joyce Meyers
Quit bringing yourself down because your journey is different than others, but rather celebrate it! As far as I know, the years will keep ticking away and you can either watch them wash away or wake up and take control of the time you have.
Do not focus on the things you cannot control.
Do not think about the things you wanted to achieve by this age and rather, focus on what is tangible and what you can start today.
Think about one thing you have always wanted to do. The thing you think about so often and it nags at you. What is that one thing?
Sit down and think about what it is you want to achieve. Write down what you know and what you need to find out for said goal. Make a list of what you need to find out, who you could speak with and calculate costs and time required for said goal.
Now take items from your list and make one an action item for each day of the week, including the weekends. Life does not stop just because a day of the week starts with the letter ‘s’.
Now, start working on your goal. Make sure your goal is manageable and try to aim for thirty to sixty minutes of work each day.
Do not try to go all in and spend endless hours the first few days. Remember that the long game requires daily effort, so be realistic and do not burn yourself out.
Talk to your partner or a support person about your goal. Get advice and feedback from them.
Any goal is going to require daily sacrifice; not occasional sacrifice, but daily sacrifice.
I typically sacrifice money, time and sleep for my goals. I wake up early and make time for my personal goals before my work priority.
Think about your strengths and weaknesses. Focus on how to highlight your strengths and work against your weaknesses.
I know that I am not motivated in the evenings, so I work against this flaw by waking up early and getting work done in the morning.
I know that procrastination is not my friend, so I commit to myself to work at least thirty minutes on my goal, regardless of the day and external factors.
Have I talked about age once? Does age really matter once you start working on your goal?
Age is simple a thought which deters us from pursuing a goal, but the moment you start on the path towards your goal, the idea of age completely vanishes from your thoughts because you have more important things to think about.
“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” — Mark Twain
